Most grills are designed for outdoor use only, and are dangerous within a confined area. Gas grills may be specifically designed for indoor use, but they must be carefully installed to properly ventilate toxic gasses.
Only charcoal briquettes should be used in charcoal grills. To ignite charcoal briquettes, use charcoal lighter fluids. Do not use any other flammable liquid—and never use gasoline as a charcoal lighter fuel. Gasoline vapours are highly explosive.
Always light barbeques with a long match or mechanical lighter designed for barbeques.
Combustibles should always be kept away from barbecues. There should never be anything that can catch fire if the barbecue is somehow tipped over in any direction.
Barbecues should be kept uncovered during startup, and should never be leaned over during ignition.
