Grades 5-8 - Become a Senior Fire Warden

Firework Safety

  • Fireworks can be beautiful, but they're also extremely dangerous. Always be careful when handling fireworks.

Leave lighting fireworks to professionals, and be especially careful around spent fireworks: Seemingly burned out fireworks often still have some of its explosive load left; it's surprisingly common for a smouldering firework to have an unexpected discharge.

  • Sparklers can be fun, but they're also very dangerous in their own way: The coating on a sparkler is actually a flammable metal that burns hotter than 1000 to 1600 degrees Celsius.

This can make them very difficult to extinguish while they're going, makes them extremely dangerous if the burning metal is allowed to touch skin, and leaves the rod extremely hot even after they've gone out.

Be very careful with sparklers, and make sure everyone around you is careful as well.
