Seniors - Fire Safety for your Grandkids

The 'No Kid Zone'

  • Whenever you're dealing with anything that has to do with heat—be it fire, hot water, or even seemingly innocuous things like heaters—there's always a danger that something might be bumped, knocked, or misused in a way that can start a fire or cause a serious burn.

  • To prevent this, it's good to establish a 'No Kid Zone' that extends 3 feet (90cm) from any potentially dangerous heat source.

This includes the stove, the fireplace, electric heaters, kettles, candles, or things that contain highly flammable liquids like gas cans or oil-fuelled lamps.
